nAz - how much are you supposed to get? In my area(east of Hershey) we're expecting 12 - 18 inches, if the storm tracks the right way. I'm ready for summer.
DG - has enough "anti-freeze" for awhile

The Christmas Song ... with the chestnuts roasting over an open fire ... by legend was written on a 100+ day in NYC ... obviously all a riff on an uncomfortable sensation. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Early this afternoon, one of my contacts at the Natioal Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration advised me that today's synoptic situation is a low pressure center (counter clockwise finds) near Norfolk VA moving northeast, spreading snow and precipitation into the New York City area from the southwest - while surface winds are from the northeast (pumping moisture into the cold air). Steering currents for major weather systems aren't surface based but are aloft. The steering current (500 mb and jet stream winds) are from the southwest - pushing the surface low toward the northeast.
I have shoveled about 50 cf or two cubic yards of snow so far.
