View Full Version : Deleting search items on IE

This computer is running Windows 98. Anything that I have previously searched for on IE is still archived somewhere in the IE/Windows directory since anytime that I just type a 'b'...a list of 'b' words that I previously searched for comes up for easy look-up. So they have to be somewhere to be deleted right?

So which porn sites do you not want your wife to know about? /ccboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Try Tools, Internet Options, Content, Autocomplete, Clear Forms. I think that works on IE6.

also clearing the recent documents folder should do it. Right click on the taskbar, go to properties, click the advanced tab, and you should see a button to click to clear the recent documents (which should also clear the auto complete in the address bar of IE)

Thanks Ross, that worked. Yeah something about "Goat raping" on a work computer just does not sit well with the IT guys....I don't know why..... /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ccboard/images/graemlins/blush.gif

. . .to clear your History, which can be viewed from the sundial icon, in the toolbars area. In case your window is sized down, it's next in line after Search, and Favorites. If you click it, you can see everywhere you've been since the last 'cleaning'.

Tools>>Internet Options. . .>>>Clear History will take care of it. And, of course, there is a setting for how long to keep things before auto-clearing.

--One more tip, if you 'accidentally' start getting blasted by porn pop-ups, the Alt+F4 key is usually better than trying to get to the 'X' button. It may also be fast enough to terminate the load, and stop any following pop-ups. Just trying to be helpful. . . . /ccboard/images/graemlins/blush.gif
