Is playing one pocket on an eight foot table totally obsurd, or what?
I know a purist would rather play on a 9ft or nothing at all, but I'm talking about for practice purposes.
Heck, I've played on a bar box. An 8 footer is ok, at least you get to practice and moving around in tighter spaces.

The last I knew, good practice is good practice, be it on an 8' or whatever. Just don't too accustomed to making those table length banks.

Yep, an 8' is better than nothing so don't sweat it. I would not call it anything close to absurd. Of course you realize that when you go to a 9' table there will be adjustments to be made. As long as you acknowledge that you are fine.
