The industry standard and BCA approved cushion is a full profile K-66 cushion. K-66 refers to the shape of the cushion. Full profile means that it is a full size cushion. K66 rail cushions are the most common cushions and are used in 75% of the home recreation tables today. [It is the standard cushion we send out in all of our complete billiard table recover kits.] The K-55 profile rail cushion is used mostly in commerical coin operated tables. The K-55 cushion has the same general profile shape of the K-66 cushions but in a larger size.

K-66 measures 1.177" high by 0.968" deep
K-55 measures 1.272" high by 1.031" deep

perhaps to accommodate the oversized cue balls sometimes used ???

They have different profiles.
K55 is a little thicker I believe.
But, which one plays better, who knows.
Rubbers have gotten cheap and bad these days.
Artemis is regarded as probably the best K66-type rubber these days. Then you have Championship and Olhausen too.
There's a debate whether Olhausen is really a K66 profile since it does not have the canvas top and air canal in the back.
