Thanks Tom, really just trying to learn basic moves at this point. I have read one book on 14-1 and just thought I might see if there were any sites I could get general knowladge out of while at work /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif Like the best way to break and things of this nature. I have mostly played 9-ball but really want to learn other games. I like 8 ball because it can turn into a chess match at times, so I am looking to 1 pocket and 14-1 to challenge my game. I have played limited one pocket and like it, but would love to learn to play properly.

There is one "pro" in my town that I will be asking to play these games so I can learn but I would like to find a few things out before we play so I dont look like a total idiot /ccboard/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Have you read The Straight Pool Bible by Babe Cranfield? If not, get it. It's cheap, short, and packed with info.

Websites are OK, but you can't take 'em with you.
Try the paperback book "Upscale One Pocket" by Jack Koehler. It should be available at Amazon for about $12-15. It's a pretty good beginner book.

Actually The Straight Pool Bible by Babe Cranfield is the one I just read /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Play your best straight pool by Phil Capelle looks good. I just started reading it yesterday and it's chock full of good stuff. I got the Bible too, but haven't started reading it yet. George Fels Advanced Pool(?) has a good section on straight. And I I think you'll like the Rempe tapes on straight pool. On their way. Dennis
