I will be spending about five days in New York/Manhattan, and was hoping I could get some direction for a couple good pool halls, not looking for action, but just to play at and enjoy a good evening.

THanks,

east and west amsterdam billiard club(east 86th st, west 76 st), corner billiards(4th ave/11th st). you won't get approached to gamble.

Good morning:

Amsterdam Billiards West, 344 Amsterdam Avenue (between 76th and 77th Streets) 212-496-8180, will be one of your best bets. They open at 11:00AM every day and have week day Power Players, $22.00 for up to 4 players from 11:00AM until 6:00PM, which is a great bargain for NYC.

Amsterdam Billiards West is my home room.

Broadway Billiards between Brdwy and 5th Ave. Monday to Thursday $4 an hour, Friday to Sunday $5 an hour. Open 24 hours a day. Lot's of good players IMO.

Oops I forgot it's on 21st street between Brdwy and 5th, BTW.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with that. If you someone asks you just say NO, right? /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

Some of my top choices (from an NC country boy) would include Amsterdam West, Corner Billiards, Soho Billiards, Chelsea Billiards and Amsterdam East. If you hit Hall of Fame Billiards in Brooklyn on their weekly tourney night you may be lucky enough to draw Jean Balukus! - Chris in NC

Actually Chris,

Chelsea closed down about 1 1/2 yrs ago. It's now called 'Slate' and is more upscale than Chelsea was. As you know, Chelsea was an old action room.

Don't know if your going to Vegas, I'm asking around in case I make it there.

upscale; but not in a good way, it is more of a 'club' atmosphere, with pricey drinks and very loud music, and tables clothed for color rather than speed. I also wouldn't rec. Soho Billiards, which is over run with kids....You have received the 3 best, Corner (be prepared for a wait though anytime after 5pm) and ABC East or West...(given a choice east is better IMO, more room between tables and a floor that dosn't move and shake)!

Wow Cuechick,

That's some tough action to fade. I could believe it coming from California with the earthquakes and all, but NY? Oh, the ell trains?

Regards,

C.C.~~the midwest where the players shake. LOL

Hey Chris,

Cuechick is right about Slate, although they do have a snooker table those interested. ABC East doesn't move because it's in the basement vs. ABC West which is on the second floor.

Eric >full of useless knowledge

BTW, are there any rules of what attire to where at Amsterdam West?

Thanks!
