Hi guys,
I am doing some tweaking on our cue cases and would like to get a good idea on the variation in cue butt width (at the thick end). So how wide is your butt?
Hi Tony,
I used a caliper to measure 2 Joss, 1 Falcon j/b, 10 Southwests and an old Brunswick Medalist.
The Brunswick measured just over 1.4" and all the others were just under 1.3".

Good morning Tony:
Not the type of question one asks of a woman !!!
However, if you are interested in the dimension of my playing cue, the butt section is 1.30"

I make my BLACK HEARTS AT 1.275 ...JER
My butt is 32mm, 1.25"... As a side note Tony, I put my cues in my 3x6 Guiseppe butt end down (pin on top) and the shaft tip down (joint on top).
By the way, I'm surprised you haven't gotten more jokes about your subject title..... /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm suprised too. What a soft ball!!! No batters at the plate or just a sign of how sophistidated and urbane the posters at the ccb have become.....LOL LOL /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif
Or showing respect for Talisman Tony..... /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm not even gonna go there.
Eric > 4 1/8 inch diameter around the end cap
what I meant was 4 1/8 inch circumference

Will your cases be of the variety that friction-fit the butts and shafts (like Porper) or will they have a little bit of "rattle room" all around (like Guiseppe)? I definitely prefer the looser fit.

Tony, mine are at 1.3 and 1.4 inches. Some of the older cues tend to be a bit larger.

4" on Helmstetter and breakcue-but pysically, fits a pair of size 4 Jordache perfectly!

This is a trick question right?
That's about the thickness of 2 sheets of paper Cheese. Minny must like em skinny!

Minny's had about 480 kids, she's to tired to leave the nest and get any comparisons. /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif /ccboard/images/icons/wink.gif

Hi Spiderman,
Why do you prefer the loose rattle fit?

Thanks for all your answers. More serious replies than I expected /webbbs/images/icons/laugh.gif .
I'm not Spidy, but I prefer the looser fit for easier entry and removal, mostly removal. I don't think the slight "rattle" hurts anything.

And.....I want the cues to fit butt end down.

Tony,
I would guesstimate that if you made the case to hold a butt that measured;
1.350"=99.9% would fit.
1.3"=97% would fit
!.275"=95% would fit
1.250"=90% would fit.
My cues measure 1.250".
Good luck,
My preference too !!! /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

Jim, Troy
We do you prefer to put the cues in butt end down.
Thanks for your input.
Not sure what your post says Tony. If you're asking why do I prefer to have cues in case butt end down it's so I can use the case as a cue stand while playing.
I just grip the pin protector and pull the butt out a few inches, remove the pin protector, then the rest of the butt and start the screw onto a shaft. It feels like one flowing motion for me.
I also like the looser fit if I'm carrying a customer's cue. With the case laying down, I can simply shake the case and a few inches of cues will slide out making it easy to remove.
