View Full Version : Self Realization

Have you ever bent into a difficult shot & you just knew you would make it?
Have you ever looked at a table & realized within moments that you were going to run out & you knew just how you were gonna do it?
Have you ever stepped into a even match & just realized you were gonna stomp your competitor?
Have you ever watched the Pro's play and realize that you could play at that level?
Maybe I'm drowsy from work, but I'm feelin it tonight...

I feel it most of the time when I play. The times I don't is far and inbetween. When I do feel that way, I might as well hand over my walet.
Good for you Cue,

I think I'm the opposite, I don't feel it most of the time & waste time focusing on whatever I've been practicing of late. I usually reach this state of awareness after a layoff from playing. If only I could keep confidence once I've achieved it.

If only I could duplicate this feeling on tourney day!
Hey Chris, that over confidence factor has hurt me more times than I care to admit.

I've been trying to keep this type of attitude for 20 years.. only thing that slows me down is NOT playing

This is commonly referred to as that elusive place where all pool players wish they could live called "The Zone".
I wish I could bottle up this feeling of invincibility, because when you feel it you are ON. Nothing around you bothers you, you believe and know that you can do anything.
The unfortunate part about this is it comes and goes and it doesn't come often enough. And the worst thing, I just don't know how to get it to come back on demand.
It's these few moments of greatness that keeps me coming back to the table. Just like the casino letting you win a little bit, only to bust you in the long run.
The PoolFan loves being in the ZONE!!!
Feel it only for a short time and it is far too fleeting for me to find it constantly. Sometimes I will it to happen but for some reason I don't try to find it often. I do just love when it comes. It's a happy place.

When someone says, "go to your happy place." My wife thinks of the beaches of Aruba, I think of Fast Break, table 1 and "The Zone" - nothing better!
