Did any of you see this absolutely ridiculous play on the WSOP? It's on GSN, channel 309 on DirecTV. The announcers were horrible!!!!!! I don't really know much about blackjack and less about tournament blackjack but it was silly at best. If it's not a replay I'll watch it again at 11 p.m. tonight to solidify my beliefs.

These people are supposed to be the best tournament players in the world. Yet if they were ever up more than $1000 at any time that was alot. Most of them just kept losing.

Hi Kato the stranger/gerbil lips,

Black Jack tourneys are the worst play you can imagine. We had tourneys all the time at the casino. They'd split 10's double down on a hard 17 and anything else you can think of that would be pure suicide in a regular game.

The reason is simple. The object is to remain at the table and have enough money to get into the next round. Like playing golf in pool, it's screw your neighbor. If your neighbor needs a 10 lets say and he or she has bet big. Your draw before him. Well, if you had a 20 you would opt to split those bad boys up to draw the 10 away from you opponent and leave the low card next for him. Sounds stupid. It's like polish pool, same deal.

I didn't see the game on tv but if they play it right? They'll all look dumb as a box of rocks. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I watched the Million Dollar Blackjack tourney on TV one day. Yeah it was a little silly. Whoever had the most money left after 26 hands won the Million. Corresponding payouts for the other 5 spots. They started with tons of qualifying tourneys to get to the "final table". They were all pretty conservative and it came down to the last three people who basically went all in and prayed they got the winning hand with more money on there. Retarded.
