North Carolina is steeped with tobacco tradition, and the sight of someone walking around with a mouthful of smokeless tobacco isn't uncommon, even at many workplaces.

U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., producer of brands including Copenhagen and Skoal, is test-marketing a product in the Charlotte region that aims to position itself as a discreet tobacco product that could be appropriate at work. Called Revel, it recently hit more than 500 of the region's stores, including Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Sam's Mart, The Pantry, Petro Express and others.

Its breakthrough: A new formulation that doesn't require spitting.

HaHa. Somehow I actually agree with this statement. "Some reacted negatively, though, saying the spitting is half the fun of using smokeless tobacco."

$1.59 for 20? How much is a regular can back there in NC. I quit the nasty habit when a can hit $3 and I just happened to be talking to a friend, who still chews, about it yesterday and found that a can of Copenhagen is $5.25 now. (probably 75% Utah sin tax)
