I was inspired to write this, last night, after a couple of gin & tonics, doubles actually, and a few pain pills...damn leg keeps acting up at night.
Anyway here's the outline...in the genre of "Love Story"

Our hero, Remo, has been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia; odd, because he is not a black male.Actually Norwegian,I think.
His childhood fantasies were centered around the comic book heroine "Wonder Woman"and he always believed Amazon Island really existed.
Now, before the disease claimed his life, he hoped to find the isle....but how?
They were playing John Denver's "Calypso" on the radio...was this a sign? Did Jacques Coustou know the secret location?
But Jacques must be a very old man by now...probably traded in his underwater air tank, for a portable oxygen bottle, like the neighbor next door, with emphazema. It seemed hopeless, just then, a Linda Carter commercial for the sleep number bed came on the TV. Remo, knew his prayers had been answered. He cashed in several of his Bush War Bonds, and bought one of the beds..now if he could unlock the key...the bed's numbers would reveal the exact latitude, and longitude of Amazon Island, and
he could fulfill his childhood dream, now a sexual fantasy,(can I say "sexual fantasy" here?) of being captured on the Island, and forced to do whatever the Amazons made their slaves do.
While waiting for the bed to be delivered, he decided to have a last fling, gambling in a Pa. Casino.
Once, at the Casino, he noticed several people were going into one of the large rooms there. Upon entering the room, he was struck in the temple by an errant cue ball. Tragically the wound would prove fatal, and as his life force was slipping away, he was
surrounded by woman holding pool cues...which he mistakingly took for spears, and their negative ion bracelets, for the kind that Wonder Woman used to fend off bullets.....Near death, he had found Amazon Island, but here in Pa?
Remo heard some strange snippets of conversation, that made no sense to him..."let me through, I'm a Doctor....are you a medical doctor?
no, but I'm trying to sell some books here....is that my red circle cue-ball?...no that's just some blood on my
blue-circle....suddenly, there was an Amazon, at his side issuing orders..."Lie still, don't move...I'm going to stick this in your mouth to see how hot you are ( as she inserted a thermometer) It was too much for him...a shudder...a wave of pleasure, and then darkness.
Of course, most of us die with our dreams not fully realised,as did Remo....he was disturbed that his Amazons were garbed in slacks, and blouses....but these were NEWT (or, as they are affectionally known...chicks with sticks)women, and who would have believed, short white dresses, and no bras?
A footnote to this: shortly before Remo met his untimely death, the hospital was investigating whether his medical records were mixed up with a black man that had been diagnosed with a blood sugar disorder. It was decided though to continue their respective treatments, since the Sickle cell anemia had apparently gone into remission, in Remo's case, and the disorder had cleared up in the other man.
The dyslexic Doctor that had diagnosed both cases, Remo(h) Senoj's (really does sound Norwegian), and the black man, Homer Jones, was now preparing a paper on "Alternative treatments..."to be published in the New England
Medical Journal. Ironically, the review board's next meeting was scheduled in this very Casino....
