“The Gulf Coast Classic”, Dec.8th thru 12th, 2004 has three wonderful sponsors, the American Pool players Assn., Diamond Pool Table Products Inc. and the Sims X-1
Cue Stick Stabilizer. We also offer some precedents:
1. The unveiling of a Leonard Bludworth $35,000 cue, personally created for Grady Mathews.
2. Handicap Nine Ball , $75 entry fee and No-limit Hold-em, $110 entry fee. Both of these offer at least a $3,000 first place prize.
3. A Ring Bank Pool Game, starring 6 of the world’s finest bank pool players.
$3,000 entry fee. We already have half of the players committed to this. Slated to compete are Tony Fargo, Ritchie Richeson and Buddy Hall.
4. A VIP high-roller, single elimination One Pocket tournament, contestants to be named later. My ideal cast would be “Squirrel”, Ricky Byrd, Hooker and Jew Paul.
Booths are only $700. Leonard Bludworth or Grady Mathews may be contacted about renting a booth.
The room rate is going to be approximately $69 weeknights and $79 Fri. and Sat.
As with any Grady event gambling is encouraged and the facility will be open 24 hours.

just what pool needs...a poker tournament. sounds like fun but it will just emphasize the darker side of pool, which is of course, what a lot of us love. However, you may find did not promote gambling so much at tournaments then you may attract new sponsors. just my opinion

No, I don't think poker eludes a "dark side". If it did there would not be celebrity poker on TV and the big tournaments on ESPN. Plus, there are probably more people that play poker socially than play pool socially. Just my 50 cents worth (I ain't cheap /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif). Pel

Grady, really hope that this tournament goes well for you and Leonard. Seems like people will have just plain and good old fun....

Please keep us posted about the tournament, maybe advertise at any of the current billiard magazines.

Again, good luck to you and Leonard.

Grady a question. Is Bernie Schwartz still selling with Jew Paul? ####

I don't even know if Bernie is still alive but he hasn't worked for Paul in 30 years.
