I like Alex P. at 12/1 this year. This could be his opportunity.

If Alex can find a way to get over his redundant second place finnish, I like his chances too !

I'm pulling for My favorites to come someone at the top. Tony Robles, Ralph Souquet and where the heck is Keith? LOL

Regards,

C.C.~~ /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif Thinks Efren is going to take it off. I'm ok with that too.

Well, there has been a thread on the WPC Forum that Matchroom run asking if he will play and I know he sometimes pays a visit, so I'll ask directly...

Mr McCready, are you going to play at the World Championships in July? If you have been invited, but you are still considering your answer, I can tell you that there are LOADS of people (myself included!) that would love to see you play it.

Many thanks in advance

Someone at AZB asked Keith if he was going to try to play and he didn't sound like he liked to travel abroad very much. That's what I gleaned from it anyway.

Anyway he'll have to qualify. I wish Matchroom would give him an invitational. I'm sure the fans would love it.

I heard from one person that it would cost him and his wife $4000 to get there and stay the duration. That's including the tournament fee.

That's a pretty sizable investment for a tournament. I can see why KM might not want to travel abroad.

I like Archer at 16-1 and Rodney Morris at 20-1. Both have been playing well lately. I'm surprised at Thorsten Hohman's odds especially since he won last year. Was it a fluke?

I would not be so quick to dismiss Hohmann - he's currently number one on the Euro Tour. You can go here (http://www.epbf.com/sportsite/2004/Eurotour/Sindelfingen/Sindelfingen.htm) to see who he's above.

Personally, I don't know who will win it this year, though I think that Rodney's odds are great and worth a wee wager.

Hey Mac,

Good point about Hohmann. thanx

Rodney could snap this one off if he gets on a roll.

Sad to say I can't get excited over this event ever since I've heard reports that there were many dumps and moves going on due to the legal gambling aspects of the event. It sucks to have to think this way, but both sources were good in my book and didn't know each other. I guess it's a great thing if you bet the right way. But IMO there isn't enough money in pro pool to allow gambling.

These odds seem a bit off. Robles at 125/1? They think Rodney Morris is 6 times more likely to win it? And Archer is 8 times more likely? Interesting, since Tony beat them both at the BCA. /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

About Hohmann, that guy is a killer. I saw him play some of the most jam-up straight pool ever in the NJ Championship late last year. I think he ran 100 balls in almost every match he played.

Two things about the gambling: First, is it true that if a player decides not to play, you don't get your bet back? I'd like to make some bets on Tony, but I don't think he's definitely decided to go yet, and I'd rather not forfeit the money. The other thing is, yes, there's a lot of dumping going on. Avoid any match that seems "meaningless", especially if it does not involve a top, top player. This is not to say that they are all fixed, but some of them will be and you won't know which (especially if you are making the bets from home).

Correct me if i am wrong but maybe these Odds were posted before the BCA open, they may need to be updated.

Tony is now 80-1 but i got in 2 bets at 125-1 two days after the BCA was over. Steve- I seem to remember betting on Shannon Daulton last year at 50-1- He didnt show and i got my money back. i think i made the bet about a week before the event though.

Quote Nostroke:
Tony is now 80-1 but i got in 2 bets at 125-1 two days after the BCA was over.

Does that mean that if he wins, you collect at the 125-1 odds? When I go to the dog track and bet on the 50-1 dog, but by post time the odds are 3-1, I win based on the 3-1 odds.

I get the 125-1.
It's not paramutual like the track.

Not exactly Show-whatever the odds are for him to win, you can bet that he will finish in the top 4 and you get 1/4 of those odds-In other words at 80-1 to win, if you bet him to finish in top 4 you get 20-1. I have him both ways.

Last year i had Alex (33-1) "each way" I thought he/I was home free playing Hohmann in a race to 17 in the finals! Alex was never really in it. Oh well-Glad i had the Saver. Made a few bucks anyway.

PS-Paramutual just means that the odds are determined by the amount of money bet on each entry by the bettors.
