This week it is once again time for the Hamiltucky APA 8-ball Invitational. The good news is all 4 open teams that went to Vegas last year are in the loser bracket. The bad news is my Monday night team is also on the left side, as well as Kathy's ladies team. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyways last night I was up 2-0 in a race to 4. My opponent attempts a safe. I walked to the table prepared to kick. As I looked at it I could see just a sliver of the 3-ball. Then I realized I could actually make the darn thing. My leave at "A" was perfect on the 8-ball

I won 4-0 and the Reef Tavern Tyrants live to battle another day. If we keep winning we will play tonight, tomorrow and 3 matches on Saturday at 9:00, 1:00 and 5:00. Whew!

He was scratching his head the whole match.

If you subtract his safeties I won 4 games in 4 innings.

the board is slow so here's one more. the match winner.

draw back to A for position on the 8

Thanks Tom.

You've been to this tournament so you know I feel so out of place without a Meucci /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Tom,

We had a singles tourney Saturday where you only play only people of your same skill level. I went 1-2 in a field of fifty-six "level-5's" /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In the ladies division Kathy won the "5-level" division in a field of seven. Last year she won the ladies "4-level" division in a field of 30. Then Sunday she won her first team match 4-0. She's been hanging around with me too much /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hamilton is the only place in the world that has more Meucci's than Meucci does in his warehouse.

Did you see Jan Edwards while you were there? If you see here again, please tell her I said hi...

Good Luck

She's there. With her ladies team and her Rose Tattoo Meucci /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif. She's dropped back to a 4 skill level. I will give her your regards.

Nice shot Wally. Especially making one like that with the pressure on.

~~rod, can't see that far

Maintaining the speed needed for that "nick" to get the OB to the pocket and then not rolling too far down table coming off of the two rails afterwards impressed me! I'd have pondered whether a miss would have left the corner blocked for the other guy if it came up a tad short might have been as primary in my mind as anything. Of course making the ball is a fine performance in itself, and yet...maybe a good two way shot perhaps?

A BIG SHOT for sure!!!sid

Hi SPetty,

You can be his Scotch Doubles partner. Ok? I get dibs on the partners though. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It didn't matter. The guy couldn't get out anyway. For being an APA 5 he played like a schmoe. The 4 that beat me Sunday played better than him. Weird how that happens. Players are so inconsistent sometimes.

What a week.

We played in a singles tourney Saturday at noon. Due to much incompetence on the part of the LO and the TD's I played my first match at 5:15. And I couldn't leave. I had no idea when I would be called.

We got done at 3:15 am Sunday.

Team play started Sunday at 5. Yours truly shot like a champ but got some funny rolls and lost the rubber match to throw us to the left side. I didn't feel too bad. My captain lost to a 3 /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We won Monday with some stellar shooting. Finished at 12:30 am. Did I mention it's a 40 minute ride home?

We won Tuesday and Wednesday by pretty much crushing our opponents. I redeemed myself slightly Tuesday by leading off with a 4-0 demolition of my opponent.

Last night was long hard grind-it-out pool but we played with a lot of heart and brains.

Now all we need to do is win tonight and then win 4 matches Saturday at 9:00 am, 1:00, 5:00, and 9:00 pm. Piece o' cake /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Wally~~tired

keep me in your prayers.....

Now that's friggin' ridiculous!

What made it go so slow? Players, TD/LO or lack of tables?

The LO did not cut off the field at 192 like he said he would. He allowed people to walk in and sign up. He did the same thing last year. You would think he would learn.

We ended up with almost 300 players on 20 tables. The TD's actually did a pretty good job keeping things moving.

We are out of the team event. We won 4 matches on the left side. Nobody else won more than 2. It was a lot of fun while it lasted.

Last night they threw a 6 and we put our female 3 on him. He scratched on the 8-ball the first game. The next game she won on this shot

and that's what it's all about. Fun.

I would have sweated a bullet or two that she'd run down with the CB for the corner scratch with that side pocket choice. All's well that ends well...sid
