For some reason I remember reading a report on this. If memory serves me it was a PDF file. I've been looking for it on the web and can't find it anymore.

I could also be confused and read something else about physics of the game.

Maybe Bob can help me !

High speed video tape of cueball and tip interactions. To get a copy, email Bob Jewett, or he may post here. He can get you a copy of the tape with field notes. I think they are $30. You can see a short clip on the Quick-Clean website (www.quick-clean.com) and Bob's email is there, too.

Frank,

I might be confused then, what I'm looking for is a document that was written about physic of pool. I thought it was based on the Jacksonville experiment but I could be wrong.

For one thing I remember it was written by one of the RSB physic specialist, is it Pat Johnson ?

I'd really like to get hold of this again... dang I wish I'd saved it !

Is this the one you're looking for?

The title is:

Amateur Physics for Amateur Pool Players (APAPP). It can be downloaded at: http://www.sfbilliards.com/Shepard_apapp.pdf

It's presented like a college text. No more. No less.

Fred,

Thanks, I believe that's the one....

Thanks also JAZ, this is the same...

So from what I undertand there was never a document written to answers the question related to the Jacksonville experiment ?

If you order the video from Bob, he also includes the notes and the BD article, IIRC.

You know when I first heard of the "Jacksonville Experiment" I thought it was a secret government program to sent a battleship back in time. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i was responsible for the famous "union city, nj" experiment. i would leave a pool case on the front seat of a car with the window open. each time, i would alternate a case with and a case without a stick inside.amazingly,in all instances, the cases disappeared from the car within minutes.

Search them from this page.

Here is one of the many returned results using author=jewett and key word=jacksonville that you may find interesting.

There were several articles and lots of discussion over in RSB. Was there a particular question you were wondering about?

Thanks Bob,

I read most of the comments on RSB, but I was sure I read a pdf report of your results. I was talking to a friend about it and told him I would send him the doc.

I was probably remembering the RSB discussion and confusing it with Ron's paper...

Thanks anyway !
