WOW. I've missed this for how many years?

1. First time to Vegas.. wasn't dissapointed at all. What a town... why would anyone want to sleep?

2. 9000 players!

3. 250+ tables. Vally barboxes.

4. Lots of teams from all over (Canada, Spain) Why can't USA players play in their national events?

5. Score sheets, Races to 13, Hill-Hill matches. Lots of all women teams. Gee, those ladies get excited when they win.

6. Open singles, men and women's, Master division, (lots of suspect decisions there) No BCA board members there to explain or rule on complaints. I heard that the TD was just handcuffed with what was presented to him. The official response was 'tuff' or 'suck it up'

7. Food was good, not great, but good. Coffee was very good. Beer COLD and drinks were at least a 6 count everytime.

8. There must have been 50 booths. Not much new stuff, but lots of things I've not seen except on the internet. I was impressed with the new bridge http://www.kellersbridge.com/

9. Early morning matches, that if you won, you had to play all day long. With hours during the matches.

10. Did I mention the food? it was good, but who had time to find the really good stuff.

11. Seeing the Lady and Men PROS. As usual, the best really put on a great show. I got to see some of the matches on Thursday and the Friday quarters. Alex looked strong, and the match of the day was Tony against Rodney. I got to see Alison, Korr, Lee, Webb, and Helena T, play their matches.

12. I am sorry to say I didn't run into any CCBers (except Mike Howerton) I was at the Splash Bar at 6pm on Friday and waited until 630 and then went to see the Pros play.

13. I had to stay at the Hilton (very nice hotel) about a block away from the Riviera (they said they were all sold out)

14. I lost about $7 playing those stupid poker video games at the Splash Bar. But Won $100 at the airport, waiting on my plane to fly back to Sacramento. That paid for my 1st Class upgrade. (only $50 to upgrade, I spoiled myself for a comfortable ride home)

15. Thinking of coming back in Aug for the APA event.

16.Will definitely be back next year for the BCA again.

17. Getting my picture made with Jeanette Lee and Robin Dodson. Email me if you want a copy Wally... I will scan it for you and let you drool... LOL

18. Working with the owner of HustlinUSA clothing booth. visit www.hustlinusa.com (http://www.hustlinusa.com) for a visit to Tony's site. He's from Sacramento also. He was gracious enough to let me store my bags of stuff so I wouldn't have to lug them around all day..

19. Got to visit with JR and Sally of InsidePOOL. What a couple! good people, if you haven't done so, check out IP at www.insidepool.com (http://www.insidepool.com) Lots of good stuff there.

20. Do you think all the ladies that serve drinks and waitress in the casinos might have been showgirls 20 years ago?

21. I've got digital pics... and will try to get them on my website www.geocities.com/cincytom314 (http://www.geocities.com/cincytom314) sometime next week.

Thanks for the report! That new bridge is the one that was used at the Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge.

I picked up one of those bridges at VF. It is a cool gadget, and it works well. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unfortunately, it is a little large to fit in my case, however, the guy told me that they are working on a carrying cast, that will hook to your case. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

17. Is that offer just for Wally, or can any of us request them? Think you'll post them on your web site?

21. Please let us know when your pics get posted.

I'm glad you had a good time. It's a shame that you didn't hook up with more CCBers. They're a fun bunch! I'm sad I missed it, and I especially missed Rip this year, but with limited vacation time, I chose the USOpen this year. See you there, right?

Hi Tom,
I was there at 6:50 with Rip and Nick-sorry to have missed you!Hooked up later one evening with Marty (Spiderman)-found Fred Agnir, who I believe, came in the money)-the womens pro-event was full-I mean, why not? its Vegas ,baby!:)
All-in-all, had a great time-saw the Amazing Jonathon,Danny Gans, Mark Sweet the hypnotist(which I thought may have been a little fugazzy),went to the stratosphere, ate at Paris Eiffel tower restaurant and went to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville for lunch-that is when I missed watching Martys team-someone made an error and parked us at Paris when we should have parked by Ballys cause Margaritaville is across from Caesars, ugh!Didnt get back in time,so hopefully, he did good!
Rip looked great, so did Nick and his wife,as always, and especially Marty-what a sweetheart!:)Fred, well, he's family:):):):)
50 cent wheel-of-fortune was very good to me-hit big-had to fill out one of those forms,ha ha ha ha
Spoke to Tony (Robles) everyday and I am so very proud of him-it was his time!
Thats about all-Oh, one very important thing to me-called Blackheart and my cues are ready-so, we'll see if I will be ready to play with them in Peoria!
Congratulations to Karen Corr and Lisa Marr, who I call the "Arkansas Annihilator"
Stay well all!
Have a great day!

I gotta agree with Tom -- what an experience!

I just back into pool about 6 months ago after a 30-YEAR lay-off. Went to Vegas only to watch the pro 9-ball tournament. Was there from Sunday, 5/16, thru the final championship match between Robles and Sambajon on Saturday, 5/22. Got to see all the greats play: Efren Reyes, Francisco Bustamante, Johnny Archer, Ralf Souquet, Alex Pagulayan, Santos Sambajon, Rodney Morris, Tony Robles, Karen Corr, Allison Fisher, Jeanette Lee, Helena Thornfeldt, Sarah Ellerby, Eva Mataya-Lawerence (sp?), and a bunch of others I just can't think of right now.

I missed the Wednesday matches and the Thursday evening matches but caught all the rest. My wife joined me there on Wednesday, and we did some shows and hotel hopping. She even watched a few matches with me, including the semi-final and championship matches. (Very cool experience watching ESPN taping.) I hadn't been to Vegas in about 17 years. Was simply awestruck walking The Strip down one side from Circus Circus to NY NY and back down the other, walking through and exploring each hotel and casino along the way. Taken as a whole, the new Las Vegas should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World!

Never have I seen so many people in one place enjoying the game of pool. 9,000 of 'em! I had heard that there was going to be a BCA 8-ball tournament at the same time, but I never dreamed it would be such an awesome event! I'm glad Tom counted the tables -- I wondered how many there were: two huge rooms with tables as far as the eye could see!

Had the pleasure of having Robin Dodson teach me how to jump a ball. Did it the first time! (and several times thereafter) Then I bought a raffle ticket from her for $20 and won one of her (and Jeanette Lee's) "Frog" jump cues. Bought a bunch of other didn't-need pool stuff, but what the hell. What else are you gonna do with your money in Vegas?

Anyway...great tournament. Looking for the next one to give me an excuse to go back!

I really enjoyed that week.

I live in Vegas, so I don't really have any "my time in Vegas" stories.

My highlights were, watching Fransisco Bustamante playing at the tournament on Tuesday, and watching Mika Immonen and Jeanette Lee at the Cue Club.

It's cool to see big name players at the pool room I frequent. Aside from getting very sick the last week they were there, I had a great time.

Ever since I had you 'blocked' on my RSB along with "willie", I seem to put you out of my mind rather easily.... LOL

Sorry Jimbo, my mind was a wonderful thing to waste in the 60s.

It was "Good" seeing you again and sorry to miss your matches.
