SARASOTA COUNTY -- Most nights prosecutor Beth Scanlan leaves the state attorney's office or the courthouse and heads to a smoky, dark corner of the Boar's Head Lounge.

There is free pool at the Boar's Head. That's important because Scanlan sometimes shoots pool three or four hours a night.

What is a hobby for most people has become an obsession for Scanlan.
