View Full Version : VIP seats vs. general admission

Well we are headed to Peoria next weekend and it is going to piss me off. "What?" you may ask. It's the fact that I paid over $200 for 2 days of VIP tickets and I am going to have to go thru the hassle of competing for my seats with the general admission people who will be sittting in the VIP section.
This happened at the DCC and I finally just gave up. First you have to find an usher-type person and they have to go around checking for GA folks , while just a few feet away people are trying to play professional pool and I sure don't want to take the chance of disrupting them.
There was a letter to the editor in BD last month about this very thing that occured at the Delta Classic. Oh well.....too bad the WPBA took down their message board or I would be pounding the drum over there.

They ought to have it where you can only go in and out of one gate and have someone at the gate 24/7 to check passes.

In Valley Forge they had GA on one side of the room and VIP on the other side. with separate entrances.
At DCC the VIP section was chairs and tables along the rail and GA was chairs farther back. So the GA people just sat in the VIP

From what I remember about Peoria is that the VIP tables were just feet away from the tables and the GA was the stands surrounding the room. Now, the area between the VIP and GA were like 6 or so feet away.
I don't think you'll have a problem there though. They're good about keeping people in order as I remember. I sweat one of Fran' matches with Carol and a few friends and in the GA section. Steal benches hard on the butt and uncomfortable and the VIP was clean table cloths with nice backed chairs to do some serious watching. I would have much rather sit and watch in comfort than sitting on that bench.
I might surprise you and go up there. Can't make a commitment but you know how much I want to meet you. The good thing about the last one I attended was I got to meet Fran and she gave me a tour of the pros private area and I had a ball. Especially meeting all the women pros. They were so nice. If Fran is there I'm sure she'd do the same for you. It'll make the money spent so much more memorable. Makes you feel special. It did me. Also, try to hang in the lobby. Many pros taking breaks. Blackheart might be there too. If you do run into JER? Could you please ask him to send Karla a new polo. I saw her recently playing the IA state event and of course wearing her worn Blackheart polo. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If you have time try to get over to the local room. The time is cheap and you'd be surprized at who walks in the door. The place looked run down but for the price of time and the people pros that might pop in to practice are worth it.

Tell me the casino doesn't know how to sell a seat. LOL Especially thoses pics. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif I bet the VIP sections fill fast. The casino will comp many to high rollers that aren't pool players.
BTW, disregard what I mentioned about seating. That's not the place I remembered. It was a hotel. Man, where have I been.

Wally & Chris ,or anyone else who is going to be in Peoria, Connie & I would love to meet you. We will be there Thursday & Friday, for both the day & night sessions. We will be wearing our usual "BLACK HEART" shirts & jackets, so we shouldn't be hard to find. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the "GIRLS",but especially CAROL CLARK whom we have never met face to face. See ya there...JER

The latest P & B reprinted the letter this month with a response from Peg Ledman. Ledman said they had recommended to the casino that the casino employ an attentive floor staff at Sam's Town but the casino had under-staffed the room. At the wrap-up meeting Ledman says she brought this to their attention and they promised to improve next year.
Hope Peoria is better..........
