For those who missed it, Smarty Jones got a police escort from Philadelphia Park all the way to the Belmont. Interesting? If there is anybody else who wants a program, win ticket or souvenir glass from the Belmont, I need to know by tomorrow (Friday) night. I won't have time to check Saturday morning. I'll check for any messages at 10:30 pm and then I have to shut it off.

Thats very cool you'll be at the race. I'd probably just be there checking out the women myself. HEHE.

Duane,

You have my "Super Size Me" order. I just made your pecans. They came out to my specs - delicious - and we'll do biz on Monday. I've got a tourny this weekend and won't be home until late Sunday night.

You can't imagine all the nice looking women there. Back in 2001, Bill and Hillary were there, when they were shown on the big screen, everybody in the working class section, not the millionaires or celebrities, booed them. It was funny but they still deserved respect.

Barbara - I've got you covered for the race. My mouth is watering thinking about those nuts. The bag you gave me at VF didn't last a week. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif They were so good.

DG - have a good tourney /ccboard/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You know what the early odds are on Smarty???sid

As of now, the odds are 2 - 5. The only way to make any money will be by playing exactas, trifectas, etc. I think the odds will be worse on race day.

DG - hoping to see history

Sounds to me like a $2.60-$2.80 payoff on a 2 dollar bet in the works. Oh well, it'll be fun seeing him win the Triple and personally collecting something on the win, gonna bet a few hundred and have maybe a hundred in return. I believe this horse "is on a mission." The timing is right(imo.) sid~~~ok, sid knows it's just a horse race, but what a fever in the air watching the stretch run and the finish line, huh ;-)

What an amazing horse. I didn't see the derby, but I saw the Preakness. When that horse shifted gears on the back stretch I nearly died. He just ran away from the field, he is a front runner with the sprint of a come-from-behind horse. Truly amazing!

Speaking of that did I mention I went to the Indy 500? /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif. They had a major rain delay which gave us more time for babe-watching.

and let me tell you about the ladies at Keeneland. Hoo-wee /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

race? what race?

Have TV, will travel. Well, depending on the weather. If it's raining all day, i can probably make it over to Comet.

The crowd is fantastic! They cheer as the gate opens to start the race. When the horses reach the head of the stretch the roar of the crowd is deafening. I'm taking my digital camera along, and I'll send pics to you when I get back.

Lucky Dog! I'll be at Lone Star in front of the main screen, like last time. You can bet it'll be noisey, but you my friend have the premium experience!

DG, You ever talked with someone about that fever and they said something like "I lived within an hour of Louisville and never went to the track, just didn't interest me to even go one time." ANYONE who ever goes finds it impossible to not admit that it is exhilerating. My ex-GF, a staunch Southern Baptist finally went a while back after we broke up(I couldn't persuade her, I WAS THE MAN IN HER LIFE, WASN'T GONNA BELIEVE ME) and she was estatic afterwards. Horse racing gets in your blood FAST! Especially when you have a Smarty Jones to watch...sid

Sid- my wife is from Louisville and I have two sisters - in-laws that live there. They won't go near Churchill on derby day. They watch it on TV and have parties. My wife has the fever every year. A friend of my wife's used to fly the private jet for Spendthrift Farms. Which used to be very big. Although I can't remember what horses they had. I'll send you pics when I get back. I've been to the Preakness once and the Belmont 5 or 6 times. Each is an experience in its' own right.

DG - will be rooting for Smarty Jones
