This is a continuation of the previous inside english thread.

First I have to confess I have never used inside english much, as it frequently seems to cause a missed ball (due to squirt I believe). I'm fairly comfortable with outside english.

I set up this shot a few times last night.

)END

With 1 or 2 tips of right I found the cb ending up at "A" which was almost the same spot it ended up with a center ball hit. But with high right I was easily able to send the cb to "B". On either shot pocketing percentage was just about 100%.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Center right won't change the angle of the cueballs path much if any before it hits the rail (as compared to centerball only). Follow will alter the path. And in this case, it alters it enough such that when it hits the cushion, the english is almost natural/running, or at the least it's a lot less hold-up than with center-right.

I'm assuming that the object ball doesn't hit the pocket exactly the same with centerball vs. center-right. So, the end point of the cueball might be the same, but I'll guess that the path of the cueball is different. With center right, I'll assume the cueball hits a higher spot on the cushion, the object ball hits the left part of the pocket, and the cueball checks up to point A. Video helps a ton.

I always aim at contact point on the object ball when I use inside English. When I use running English I would aim at the point on the cloth where the center of the cueball hits. This method works with medium speed strokes, when you kill it you have to adjust.####

I see what you are saying. If the cb hits the rail at a 35 or 40 degree angle the english is not enough to take. But when the follow causes it to hit at a 10 degree angle it will take.

IMO, inside english is the hardest to master. But once you've mastered it, it works wonders. I was caught in a situation like this in a 9ball tourney last nite:
START(
%AB9[9%BB8[6%CB8[5%DB3Z9%En2U6%FK8U0%GB6[4%Hn2S0%IC0Z9%JB9[3
%KC1[8%LC4[7%MB4[1%NB7[3%OB8[3%Ph3R5%Ul3T7%Vi4S1%Wr2W1%Xi3R8
%YP0Z9%Zr4W6
)END

Couldnt go 2 rails around the 8 coz that path was blocked. Instead I used inside english around 1 o'clock, pocketed the 5 and had perfect position for the 6.

Had another situation like this:
START(
%AB3[7%BB7[9%CB5[5%DC3Z7%EB4[7%FC6[3%GC5Z9%Ha5V4%ID3P1%JC0[9
%KB4[6%LB8Z9%MC2\3%NB2[8%OB8[6%PU5Y9%QG3Y6%Uh5Z7%Vb2W5%WH9Z7
%Xa6D0%_r7P0%`j6Z2%aj4Z7%bb8D8%ck6J4%dr7O0
)END

2 tips left english at 9 o'clock and drove the c/b 3 rails to position A.

After all that, I still lost the match /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hitting the same shot very softly with extreme right center accomplishes the same thing, sometimes even moreso. Properly struck, instead of the cueball taking a "V" path off the object ball, it travels straight to the rail and the english really grabs. You can even hit the cueball low right softly. These are extremely useful shots when you're out of line.

Here's a pretty good shot. You can spin the cueball to the other side of the two ball with soft inside.
