Hi Harold,
I think it illustrates how crowded Japan is, at least in the cities. I saw a documentary on TV that explained the average middle class Japanese businessman and his family live in something like a small two or three room apartment. They have fold out beds in the living room and kitchen etc. that come out at night and fold away during the day. TomBk
