Just found an old fishing diary. Five years ago today we fished a 26 ft. Whaler 60-65 miles out of Little River Inlet, South Carolina, on approx. 150 degrees magnetic. We caught wahoo to 41 lb. on Sevenstrand Big Eye Clones and jumped a blue marlin on a purple-and-clear Moldcraft Wide-Range Super. Many false albacore were present. We saw few birds.
Love those grilled wahoo steaks with a baked potato, lightly cooked green beans, a tossed salad, and a couple of cold beers!

How many wahoo did you get? What was the water temp?
Purple is good for marlin.

Four wahoo. The Carolinas produce quite a few larger ones, say 75 to 125 lbs., during late winter, but average wahoo are available all year. Didn't record water temps on this trip, don't remember why not. I seem to recall that we were fishing the edge of a blue-water eddy over hard bottom, and that there were big sargassum patches in the area--every boy's dream. We weren't very far from the Georgetown Hole, which appears on fishing charts and produces some of everything.
