Does this mean that soon there will be no more Twinkie defense?

TRUE STORY:

A man decided to quit his job. He gave his 2 weeks notice. He later decided that he did not want to quit and went to his boss to recede his resignation. His boss apologized, but said that he could not recede because his replacement was already hired. The guy then came to work with a gun. He shot and killed his boss and I belive on other person. He was arrested. At his trial he claimed temporary insanity. He proclaimed that a few weeks prior to the shooting that he had fallen away from his normal diet. He had been eating alot of junk food, namely Twinkies. He claimed that his body was not used to the influx of the sugars and thus this had an negative effect on his brain chemistry (I guess glucose and insulin levels). Because of this he went nuts and shot up his work place................And HE GOT OFF!

I think you are referring to the Dan White case. If so, the media misreported the defense as being based on eating junk food. What the defense really argued was that Dan White was clinically depressed. In that context his lawyers noted that he had switched from a healthy diet to one of junk food and twinkies. His "twinky diet" was presented as a symptom of his depression, not the cause of it or of the murder. Dan White still should have not gotten off, though, IMO.

He's dead via suicide now.

I dunno...I learned about in in Psych 101 in college. Because of my major I had alot of Psych and Soc classes. I just remembered the story...I didn't investigate. I wasn't in college to learn...just to do my required 4 years for a piece of paper so that I could get a jobby job in the real world. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Btw, LA cops use Twinkies for testing drivers under the influence of marijuana.
They dangle them in front of a suspected driver. /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
