NASCAR Team Owner's Plane Crashes

A plane crashed in route to the race in Martinsville about 12:30 pm today. The plane belonged to Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Ten people were onboard, including Rick's son, Ricky, his brother, John and his twin daughters. These are the only names released at this time. Rick's driver, Jimmy Johnson, won the race, but they canceled the post-race activities. This is really a sad time for the NASCAR family. Bless all of these victims, familys, and friends.

This is a huge tragedy for the family who has done so much for our city. Rick has had some well publicized problems, and this is more than any one family should have to endure. They were instrumental in raising awareness for bone marrow testing programs that have helped save so many lives. My heart goes out to them.
