A few months ago I cancelled the prescription rider on my health insurance policy. It cost me over $1200 per year. I checked into what the drug I take would cost. It amounted to $320 a year. Yes the ins company covers all drugs but a savings of $700 would easily pay for an occasional script if needed.
Moving along, today I checked prices again. 1 month is $47, 90 days is $83. The pharmacy said as quanty goes up the price is less. Ok, so I asked about a 6 month supply and if a doctor can write a script for that long. The answer was yes he can since it's not a controlled drug. A 6 month supply is $105, whoa, man have I ever been getting ripped off. Think of what the companies pay that provide subscriptions when they buy them by the thousands.
This is just a message to those that do pay high costs to ins companys or have to pay for their drugs. I hope it helps someone. In my case from $1200 to $210 per year. I'll risk paying for other prescriptions. You'd have to take a lot of drugs to spend a $1000 and I don't.
