I am in the process of retrieving a 9' 1942 Brunswick ... the one with the elephant legs /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I looked around at the simonis 860 cloths ... cheapest I found was $179.00. Is there a 'comparable' cloth out there for less $$ ?

Gorina Granito would be an excellent alternative. Gorina has been producing fine billiard, snooker, and pool cloths in Spain since 1835. Mueller Recreational has it for $1.38 per inch. You would need 112" to recover a 9' x 4.5' table.

I would go with 860 on that table. The 860 is very good cloth and well worth the extra money.

If it's going to be your home table. Then, 860 is the way to go. I really don't see $179. as being all that expensive anyway. Look at the big pic. It'll last you a longtime. Especially, on a home table. $179. is like the price of 1 shaft on some cues or cheaper than a Sledgehammer BK. You play on that stuff anyway and if installed right. The Simonis name will be seen on the cloth. Therefore, you can tell your guests, "Look, I got Simonis". lol

Check out www.billiardsexpress.com (http://www.billiardsexpress.com) They have 860 for $1.29 per inch and are good people to deal with. I agree with C.C and the others - 860 is the way to go and there's no point in trying to "save" on a lesser quality cloth; you'll get your money's worth in the enjoyment of playing on the best.

Sounds like you've got a nice classic table and you'll hate yourself if you don't get 860. Doing it right would mean you get 860....imo.
