View Full Version : DECISION MADE-GOLD CROWN IV BOUGHT!!!
11-18-2004, 02:53 PM
Well Folks..after bothering you all for a couple days and getting some helpful Tips and Comments from Several of you, My Quest is over and I Just Bought a BRUNSWICK GOLD CROWN IV. I opted for the Bronze Trim as the only real concession to my Wife, who of course would have somewhat preferred, that I got one of the Brunswick "Lookers", like the Ashbee, and went with the Simonis 860 instead of 760, because that's what I'm used to from my last 8 Footer. I Actualy had him writing me up for the ASHBEE, and Just couldn't do it. For once I went with my Heart AND Head, and told him..."Stop Writing and Write me up for a Gold Crown!". Several Factors went into this, but the one that cinched it, was the Width of the Rails on the Gold Crown..I LOVE Shooting on GC's and I figured that was part of it. The ASHBEE had this little narrow Rail in comparison..So narrow, that it would have affected how I formed my Bridge Hand in many cases, when I wouldn't have to alter it at all on a Lot of the same Shots with the Gold Crown. That, and of course, the Overall Feel and Playability of a GC..I couldn't get THAT out of my head. I'm sure some of you might be curious as to what I paid?? I had heard quite varying Prices on GC's since I started researching them several weeks ago, and Yesterday, I was down at the same Brunswick Dealer and tried to knock his price down. He Said that they already had some of the lowest prices in the Country and Couldn't come down. I believe this to very possibly be the case, with the prices I've seen for some of these. Maybe a few of you could email me and tell me if I DID get a Good Deal, compared to you who have bought a Gold Crown New yourselves paid? His Price was $6000 Even, PLUS Tax. When he wrote it up and showed me the Total, he said to me "Not as much as you thought, Is it" and winked at my wife, which I didn't see at the time, but my wife relayed in the Car on the way home. He knocked it down 5% on the nose, to $5700 Plus Tax, which came to a Grand Total Delivered and Set Up for the Gold Crown and the Accessories of $6178.80 How'd I Do??? This was pretty nice of him, since he was already writing me up and knew I was going to buy it at $6000. Anyway..Once again..I'd like to thank all of you that helped me with this Purchase..ALL of what you guys emailed me was taken into consideration. Hope you're all doing Great, like I'll be, when the poolroom is done in about a month...Take Care All and Thanks Again..Nick..:)

ME TOO!! I just bought one of the Gold Crown IV's used in the WPBA U.S. Open at Sandia Casino in Albuquerque. I paid 5300.00 total, including tax. I haven't seen any that look quite like it online though. It's a very dark stain (not black) with silver trim, caps, etc.. It also has the advertising (Brunswick) on the sides, which I actually really dig.
They are delivering it tomorrow, so I'll be staying home this Friday night. I'll be practicing for the 9-ball tournament here on Saturday!
Anyway, congratulations and I hope you are as excited as I am about your new table!

Good for you Britz /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif I love the GC. I'm glad to see you did not give in to the female desire for aesthetics /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif The commercial look of the Gold Crown is second to none.

Congrats! You made a very good choice. You wouldnt have been happy with anything less than the GC from Brunswick, you would have always thought to yourself "I wish I had gotten the GC /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I played Vivian Villereale in the charity doings on one of those tables. Very nice table. Tried to watch them set up before the tournament but they ran me out. Curious if they are one piece slates like the Diamond tables they use in tournaments.
