What, if any, lubricant is recommended for joints? WD40? Thanks.

you mean it squeeks when you put the cue together?
just use soap water on the joint, then dry it after a minute and it will not squeek for several months

Anything heavier might be too heavy. I'd be interested to hear what our resident cuemakers have to say.

Use an alcholic cue tip swab to clean that joint... you will be suprised at the gunk it ferrets out! Then a little dab of liquid car wax on the male end and screw together. This should do the trick!
What Joint? I have had a squeak years ago. Tell you what I've use butter or vaseline on metals. I just lubbed a shower fixture with vaseline. Use sparingly and wipe off extra.
