A lot of those shots as you know also come up quite frequently in One Pocket.

Here is an interesting shot that may or may not be legal. Your opponent lays on the rack calling safe and gets a ball to the rail. If one side of the rack stays intact you can call the second ball (in this case the 11 ball ) in the corner pocket. All you do it shoot the cue ball through the rack hard at the corner pocket and the second ball will go in about 50% of the time.

Almost certainly not legal, whether the cue ball freezes to the front ball or not. We used to play the shot regularly when I was just starting to learn the game, and it was a major reason not to play the cue ball to the head spot for us beginners. The real reasons not to play to the head spot unless you have no choice is that it tends to leave an easy answer or a shot (depending on exactly which balls are frozen).

Both caroms off the rack are very tough shots, especially from a long distance. Fun to try, for sure-
