I need to thank Fran, Carol, Susan, Barbara, and Lara. You probably have no idea why, do you? I didn't get out to see much of anyone's match except Cass', but just hearing about the "agony of defeat" and the "thrill of victory" after your matches, made me come home from Vegas and pick up my McDermott again. Haven't done that seriously in 10 years. I plan on entering the Women's Open next year in Vegas, thanks to all of you. You gave me the inspiration to try this again. I do have to work for a living, unlike my hubby at the moment, LOL, but I do try to play a little every day. Doesn't often work out that way when you've got to take your 9 year old to karate and baseball, but I try. I am looking forward to playing some, if not all, of you next year. As long as I'm at it, I might as well tell you that I had a wonderful time in Vegas. Planning on moving there when possible. Everyone was so nice. Wasn't quite sure what to expect from anyone, seeing how I wasn't the one they were used to talking with on the CCB, but everyone was very nice and treated me like I was part of the CCB family. I appreciate that, sure did make me feel good. Wish me luck with practicing, believe me, I need it!!!! Thank you all so much again.

KarateMom, lot's of class from you, lot's of class. I figured you'd have fun meeting all the folks on the board as everyone is so darn nice. I pretty much think Chris is awful lucky for having a girl like you by his side. He does rave about you and Christ (small i) all the time.

Tell that bum of a husband of yours to get a job.........I'm joking, I'm joking.

Kato~~~~I know who you are

Thank you. I did have a lot of fun in Vegas. Not so sure that he's the lucky one though (I can be a real bitch sometimes) LOL. But I do know how lucky I am. Thanks again. As for the job thing, he needs a break from the casino action. I saw the hell he went through with that job and didn't deserve it. He'll get a job when he's ready, so for the time being, he shoots pool ALL day, LOL.

I figured you guys would me heading west before too long! Well, I'll maybe have a pillow to crash on when I visit Vegas...for the FIRST time.

Great to hear you're going to start in with pool again. Now I KNOW that Christ (pronounced Chris with a t at the end) will be a pool player!

Can't tell you how envious I am of the time that was had by all in Vegas, and in Valley Forge, and that will be had at the Open. The IRS saw to it that I won't be going ANYWHERE this year...LOL /ccboard/images/icons/frown.gif

Go get'm Heide!

Could KarateMom be any cooler? To me no, I called their house once and she answered the phone. She talked to me like she knew me forever. Chris has hit lotto with this lady, no doubt.

Voodoo...

Hi Voodoo,

Absolutely no doubt. I don't think there is a non-pool-playing spouse alive that is as supportive of their pool-playing spouse as KarateMom is. And now she's going to be a pool-playing spouse! You go, girl!

Good for you, Karatemom! I remember having a brief conversation with you about your coming back and playing and I got the impression you already pretty much decided it was a done deal. I'm happy for you, I think. LOL! Make sure Chris does his share of household chores when it's your turn to go out and play. Ha!

Go get 'em girl and keep us posted on your progress.

Karatemom,

Pete and I don't have any kids, but we do have Kitties. So when I go away for tournies, it's a "boys alone" weekend. They have their fun amongst themselves and the big guy has to take care of them.

When you go to have your tournies, have fun!! I'm sure Chris can take care of everyone! /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif!

Yeah, it was a done deal, but wasn't so sure I could go through with it til I got home. And yes, you can be happy for me, I never was that good. Chris says I have good form and stroke. Just have to work on english and making the darn balls!! LOL. As for household chores, yeah right, in my dreams. I'll do my best though. Thanks for the encouragement. I need all I can get.

Now that's the last thing I would do, leave two men (well one man and one young man) alone in the house. I'd be the one cleaning up after them when I got home, LOL. Don't plan on any tourneys for quite a while. Just working on trying to get the basics back for now. Hit the hard stuff later. I plan to be ready for Vegas next year though.

Oh Heidi! You have to believe that the boys will grow up a little! LOL! I'm the cleaner (I declare chemical warfare on this house every 2 weeks) and when I go away, I come home to a freshly vacuumed carpet! Oh Yeah!! In fact, Pete likes to "vary" the pattern like he does with the lawn. I love the plaid pattern he does, Reminds me of a baseball outfield. (I swear, he does this!)

Plus! He gets to watch movies I wouldn't be least bit interested in, uninterrupted, and with his best bud!! Like, that last Claude Van Damme thing. Although I can look at Steven Segal but he's really a Himbo and I can't take him seriously.

You go Girl and have a blast at taking up this sport another round!! And if you think you're having too much of a struggle and your hubby can't help you - go for Pool School to get you thinning about stuff!!

Barbara~~~looking for randg"s sequel school...

Thanks for the kind words. The way I see it, any friend of Chris' is a friend of mine. Now if only I could shoot like him. I'm just glad he's showing me what to and not to do. I forgot how damn hard this game is.

Pete's dictating to me:

Heidi,

Pete says that you're a real cutie and your hubby's real, real lucky and when you want to get into pool and can't trust the household to the other boys, he'll be there to show them how to handle a mop, broom and vacuum!!! (and lawnmower, if necessary).

And he also says that if you don't get your wish about getting back into pool, Pete will come and talk to Chris about it! Just tell your son that this height happens when you eat all your vegetables. (This is how I got so tall, too!)

Barbara~~~~teehehehehehehehe -- dictating and LMAO!!!! /ccboard/images/icons/smile.gif

Hi Heide,

You don't know how long I've been waiting for you to pick up that stick again. I'm extremely happy about your return babe. Although, it doesn't matter if you shoot or don't. I love you with all my heart.

If you need the time I'll take care of what ever you need me to do. I also want to say that having you with me in Vegas in the tourney with the lil guy. Made me feel so great. I think your the most beautiful and caring wife a man could have. Especially this old man. I'm also happy you like my new friends here. You know I don't have any friends. I mean true friends, excluding you, my best friend always.

Love,

Chris

Hey there wonderful Lady,
I didnt even have to flat mode and look ,to know who you were!I feel blessed to have met you and your wonderful family and if there is anyone to help you with your game, thank God you have "the jumping Mantra"-hows that tattoo on that best-looking son doing? That was awesome!Okay, now to make you laugh-heres a "NEVER!"We all know the uses for "DUCT TAPE!" Do NOT put duct tape on your eyebrows-it removes the little hairs, but also takes some skin with it!LMAO!
Carol-thanking God the swelling went down BEFORE my flight!ha ha ha:) Till next year!
Miss you Heide!

Thanks for the ego boost, babe. I love you too and can't wait to kick your butt on the table, LOL. You know that's my goal, don't you? I guess my goal should be to kick Christ's butt on the table first, then yours.

Love you,

Heide

Thanks for the duct tape tip, Carol. It must be a NY thing, tried that before and learned the hard way myself, LMAO.
The tattoos are gone, but we still have the memories, LOL.

It's a love fest!!!!!!!! Well Heidi, looks like you've got yourself a brand new support staff. I for one look forward to your development. Of course when we meet I'd prefer for you to be nice and let me win (or at least bake chocolate chip cookies).

Much like Pete I'm very handy around the house. I know how to wrap the vacuum cleaner cord the right way and know how to clean glass. If you'd like I'll help Chris with his new role in the household, "Loving, cleaning, cooking, supportive husband while the wife runs racks kind of guy". I got news for ya though. I'm not coming to your neck of the woods unless it's HOT outside. I don't like snow and cold.

Kato~~~South Florida, cooking, cleaning, weak pool playing, lawn mowing, goofing off kind of guy.

Just wanted to ask what McDermott cue you have. I started thinking that McDermott was the only cue and owned 2 in my pool lifetime, still have an EK-1 kept at work for a lunchtime stick. I found out after a long time of playing with Triangle tips that McDermotts were originally equipped with LaPro tips, and I switched. Both of those McDermotts hopped to life(imo)...sid

You folks make me sad and glad at the same time! .... sad because I don't have anything this great going on, and glad to see that it can really happen! Meeting your family was an exceptional experience.

Hi Sid. I have a D 19 model McDermott. Cass bought it for me back in Chicago about 11 years ago. Not sure if I have had the tip changed but I know it's a LaPro. Hits good and solid, so why change if it ain't broke. I believe this is the last model that Jim McDermott designed, but not sure about that either. It's the only thing I've ever shot with, and ever will as far as I'm concerned. If there's a problem with my game, and I know there is, it's not the cue, it's me.

Heide, if the tip is 11 years old you may want to get C.C. to change it. Fresh start, fresh tip? that sort of thing. I suppose if something needs to be changed Chris will notice it. Have fun KarateMom, you deserve it.

It's been so long since I've picked it up, don't know if it's 11 years old or not, the tip that is. But he reshaped it for me because it was awfully flat so now it's hitting pretty good. Ran 13 balls for the first time in ages so things are coming together slowly.

The beginning of good things to come, I can read that much of the future. Maybe your 9 year old could get a bit of the fever, I learn more from teaching(no I'm not a true billiard instructor) anything I teach including a bit of pool. Funny how that is. Besides, at nine you've only got 2 maybe 3 years before they begin to decide that they already know more than you do about EVERYTHING...sid

You're a real sweetie!! Fran and I both agree on this one!!

Too bad for the women out there that don't see you!! I'd look you up in a heartbeat!! (that is, if I weren't married already)
