01-12-2005, 06:32 AM
OnePocket.org is pleased to announce that the first ever One Pocket Hall of Fame banquet will take place at the Executive West Hotel -- during the Derby City Classic -- on the evening of Tuesday, January 18th, 2005. The Executive West is of course the host hotel for the DCC. This is a wonderful opportunity for fans of One Pocket to sit down for dinner in the company of some of the most distinguished One Pocket legends of our time and celebrate their induction into the One Pocket Hall of Fame.

A special thanks goes out to Greg Sullivan and Diamond Billiards for making it possible for this event to take place at the Derby City Classic.

Inaugural One Pocket HOF inductee Grady Mathews has generously offered to act as Master of Ceremonies, as legends Ronnie Allen, Danny Diliberto, Efren Reyes, Leonard ‘Bugs’ Rucker, Bill ‘Weenie Beenie’ Staton and Nick Varner are honored for their outstanding contributions to the legacy of the game of One Pocket. Knowledgeable fans recognize these individuals not only for their terrific playing talent, but also for the way these players have pushed the envelope of the game itself.

The complete first class of inductees into the One Pocket Hall of Fame is:

* Ronnie Allen 'Fast Eddie' *
* Jack Breit 'Jersey Red' *
* Billy Burge 'Cornbread Red' *
* Danny Diliberto *
* Larry Johnson 'Boston Shorty' *
* Grady Mathews 'Professor' *
* Efren Reyes 'Bata' *
* Leonard Rucker 'Bugs' *
* Bill Staton 'Weenie Beenie' *
* Eddie Taylor 'Knoxville Bear' *
* Nick Varner *

For ticket information visit:
or look for OnePocket.org at the Derby City Classic. Please note that this event is independent from the Derby City Classic tournament, so their staff will not be equipped to deal with banquet reservations or detailed questions; those should be directed to OnePocket.org.

Someone sent a private message asking a couple of questions, which I will also answer here:

Grady is 'dressin' up for his role as MC, but other than that, just dress to be comfortable -- this isn't a formal/black tie kind of thing. The main thing is to be there, both to show your support and respect to the great players being honored, and to bask in a little of the glow yourself. The room will be opening at 7PM, with a cash bar available, and dinner around 7:30 - 8PM. I expect it to fill up before Tuesday, because the room only holds 40. It should be a lively and intimate event!

If you plan to attend, you should catch up with either Grady or his wife Randi if you're at the DCC before Sat evening, or me from Sat evening on.

Hi Steve,
your poineering spirit is now well recognized and appreciated. Glad to know that several others will be honored.Clearing the back log(honoring every one that deserved istead of only one player per year) also is a very good concept and members of the Onepocket org should be complemented for their RATIONAL thinking.Keep up the good work,Steve. Hey BCA, I don`t need your hands in this process.Cheers
