Ok - I finally have a house that can fit a 9'.

I need to decide on what to go with, and I'm trying to spend as little as possible, but playability and cosmetics are a concern. I'm thinking Gold Crown or Diamond, but I can't find any diamonds used. So that leaves me to the following three choices:

1) Used Gold Crown I , or Gold Crown III (I have a few in the area) Price $1800 for the I good cond, $1400 for the III ok cond

2) New GCIV , Price about 4900$ maybe?

3) New Diamond ProAm or Professional (Probably 4000-4600 at the Valley forge expo)

If I end up going with the GCI, which is in pretty good shape... I figure I'll need new rails and cloth during setup, which might set me back how much $$? Also, Being as I'm putting this as a main piece in my homes living room, I want to get it refinished or repainted. Could an automotive shop paint this table with a few coatings of black paint and have it come out nice? What is all your opinions on this? Should I save the headache and buy new? I think the GCI at 1800$ is a pretty good price, and I have a GREAT setup guy in the area.

The Diamond tables are very nice, but you absolutely can NEVER go wrong with a Gold Crown because thats what 90% of poolhalls are using.

Anyway, lets talk ! =D

I would go GC1

Simonis 860 - $175
Super Arimith Pro - $110
New cushions - $50 to $200
New Pockets - $40

Holy smokes, Batman! /ccboard/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Where are you finding Simonis 860 for a 9-foot table for $175.00? The last time I was quoted it was almost $400.00 just to buy the cloth. That's one smokin' deal at $175.00.

I think the $175 was about the price, it breaks down to if you buy it by the bolt????
That's about the figure I remember, when I was the chief, and only "staple puller" for a top table mechanic, but he did mostly pool rooms.

If you have the cash, I would go with the diamond pro, they're just awesome. I would definitely take the diamond over the GCIV, however if the GC1 is in good condition, and price is more of an issue, that might be a good buy.

I'm not sure the paint job you are talking about will work. If it were in a basement game room, I would recommend one of the used tables.
However, since you are featuring it in your living room, I recommend going with a new table.
My preference would be the Diamond Pro, but that is a personal decision.

I purchased mine from JoeRackem (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21210&item=3689300 618) on ebay. I got the balls from him, as well.

Sounds like you're getting ripped. When I bought my 8' Brunswick, the dealer (in Chattanooga) charged $100 extra for Simonis 860 IIRC. I asked them how much it would cost to call them out recover the table in a few years, and they told me that Simonis was $350 including cloth and installation. I've seen the cloth by itself go for between $160 and $200 online, so nearly $400 just for the cloth is a major ripoff!
