Im planning to bring several cues to the upcoming Super Billiard Expo. I want to fly there but I would like to bring my cues as carry on. Some one told me that if I bought one of those Porper travelling case (http://www.poolndarts.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/Catalog.Product/productID/5021.cfm?CFID=8467753&CFTOKEN=56976730) that I would be able to bring them as carry on. Has anyone done this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The current airline rules say that cues are not allowed as carry on luggage, regardless of what case you put them in.
Of course, on this and other forums, people have said they have gotten away with it. I guess it all depends on who happens to be working the security check points, that day.

I'll be driving to the Expo.
Hope we get to meet. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since 9/11 I've never been able to bring my cues as carry on luggage. I check them in the porper carry case and I've never had a problem. One other thing, don't put a lock on the case. It's another strange new FAA regulation. I usualy put my luggage id tags on the zippers and that seems to work

I use the Porper traveling case when I fly down to Virginia and I still have to check it in. There've been people who wrap their cues with their clothes and put them in their regular luggage but I think that still gets checked in too.

See you there!

If you know where you are going to be staying, then you know the address. Send your Cues insured via UPS, FedX or DHL overnight, INSURED. That process will eliminate any problem. If not, you can buy new cues at Valley Forge... with your insurance money. Be sure to seal the box at the UPS counter, after the counterperson sees the Cues.

So it seems like several of you have done this porper travelling case thing and checking it in without problems. I would hate to have the 3 or 4 sw that Im planning to bring be 'lost in transit'... That would suck royally!

Well Rip,

I've seen Expo-goers in the past bring in cue cases and start to open them up to booth attendees and fellow Expo-goers only to get escorted out of the Expo for the duration.

That sucks. /ccboard/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks for posting this. I am going to the Bahamas for Vacation and I was going to call the airline to see if I could "carry on" my cues. I hate to check them though. I think I just going to bring a cheap cue so I don't have to use a crappy house cue. You never know what kinda cues they got in the Bahamas. I might be shooting with a broom. And like Byrnes says,
"If a broom has a good tip on it you can play decent pool, and then sweep up the joint afterwards" or something like that /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
