Hi everyone. I have been lurking here for several years and have enjoyed the forum and learned a lot here. I have a question. I'm replacing the pockets on my table and will probably use either Hood or RC. Would anyone care to share any exprience with either of these or suggest another brand?

Thanks,
Bob

I would also like to hear anyone's experiences with leather replacements for a GC III

Hood pockets are dyed, more like leather shoes. You also get a richer "leather look" IMO.

RC pockets are painted. There's no depth to the finish. The finish on an RC pocket will rub off with the stroke of your cue. Hood's finish will not rub off.

RC also does a fancier carved pocket and inlays. Hood does not.

Hood pockets are used by Olhausen and Brunswick, among others. RC pockets are used by Connelly. Connelly also uses a China pocket.

Hood and RC are all that's left on this side of the pacific. RC just recently moved operations to Mexico, with offices in So. Cal. Hood has been in Milwaukee for 70+ years.
