I can understand in a way. The schools get their money from the government. If they accept the poker money, they may lose some funding. Your government isn't making any money off of the money from the tourney. In my area, we are just getting slots at horse tracks. Many people are up in arms because they see little old ladies spending their monthly checks on slots, broken families, more crime, etc. My area is very conservative. The gov runs the lotteries, churches & fire companies can have games of chance as a fund raiser but fees have to be paid first.
