New Yorker wins big in Capital City Classic pool tournament

Triple winner: Joe Cutler of New York lines up a shot in the first game of the Capital City Classic pool tournament's Scotch Doubles final on March 6 at the Viking Lounge. Cutler teamed with Ryan McDonald of Ketchikan to win the event, and Cutler won the other two solo events at the tournament.

Joe Cutler of Long Island, N.Y., claimed all three titles at the Juneau Billiard Association's Capital City Classic pool tournament, held March 3-6.

Cutler won the Eight-Ball and Nine-Ball events, and teamed with Ryan McDonald of Ketchikan to win the Scotch Doubles competition at the Viking Lounge. It was the second straight successful year for Cutler, who claimed the Nine-Ball title at the 2004 tourney.

Larry Hotch of Juneau took second in the Nine-Ball event, and Rick Paulo of Juneau finished third. Paulo was second in Eight-Ball, while Gerry Carrillo of Juneau took third in that event. Paulo and Sonny Cortez of Juneau finished second in Scotch Doubles, while Jim Scudero of Ketchikan and Randy Short of Juneau were third.
