I won't be there to meet you. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif But go on the ride at the Stratosphere...the one that is on that pole. Make sure you buy the outrageously over priced picture and post it here..it will be worth it, trust me.

BTW, sorry for dipping out in H-town without saying bye. What did you finish?

Eric.

Carol /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Stratosphere rides:

Insanity-The Ride consists of an arm that extends out 64 feet over the edge of the Tower and will spin passengers at up to three 'G's.' As the ride spins faster and faster, the riders are propelled up to an angle of 70 degrees. Riders will experience the thrill of being flung over the edge of the Tower and literally facing downward at the City of Las Vegas below. The ride is programmable with various ride options. An unobstructed view of historic downtown Las Vegas rewards those riders brave enough to experience three 'G's' at a height of more than 900 feet.

At 866 feet, X Scream is the world's third highest thrill ride. Shaped like a giant teeter-totter, X Scream is an open vehicle that propels riders head-first, 27 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower and dangles them weightlessly above the Strip before pulling it's riders back and over again for more!

The High Roller roller coaster is the world's highest roller coaster! At 909 feet above the ground, the High Roller rockets around the tower pod on 840 feet of track banking sharply at 32-degree angles, traveling approximately 32 miles per hour.

The Big Shot thrill ride catapults 16 riders from the 921-foot high platform up the Tower's mast to a height of 1,081 feet. Traveling at 45 miles per hour, riders experience 4G's as they reach the very top, and feel negative G's on the way down.

Insanity Ride Breaks Down, 18 & 11 Year Old Girls Left Dangling
KVBC-TV

Las Vegas - Two girls are safe after being stuck atop the Stratosphere's Insanity ride for more than an hour.Witnesses say the ride broke down last night and left them dangling almost a thousand feet above the ground. News 3's Alex Savidge reports from the base of the Stratosphere to tell us what caused this problem.

The two girls say high winds were the reason they were left hanging out over the top of the Stratosphere tower last night. No word from anyone with the Stratosphere on why the ride stopped.

"It was just so terrifying, I can't explain it."

These two girls say after they got strapped into the Insanity ride it swung out over the edge of the tower and then just stopped. This was around 1 AM this morning. They were the only ones on it at the time. 18-year-old Erica and her 11-year-old friend Gabriela say they were stuck for about an hour and a half. They say crews at the top of the tower were scrambling to figure out what had gone wrong and how to get them back in. Finally they say crews used a chain to pull their car back onto the platform. The girls say when they got on the ride it was pretty windy up there, they guessed about 30 miles an hour, and that made this whole thing even scarier.

"I didn't think I was going to make it because the wind was strong."

We tried to get a hold of someone from the Stratosphere this morning but no one has returned our calls. Those two girls say after all this they won't be going on any thrill rides like this one for a long time. The Insanity ride sits more than 900 feet above the ground. /ccboard/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Everybody meeting at the Splash bar at, say, 6.00P Friday the 13th (!),drinks, then walk across the street to the Steak House in Circus Circus for din-din. The Steak house is an old standby- top quality steakhouse and the prices are very reasonable (steak dinner and drink is around $35 w/tip). Any takers?

Rio Buffet Wed May 18th-

meet at the Splash bar around 6.00P and head over to the Rio for the traditional "thinning of the Crab population" dinner. I'll have a car and can drive 4-5 adults. Anymore and we'll need a lubricant /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Chopstick and I met Eric and Big Thomas at the Rio last year. I think it was about $30 each.

Last week I threw away $20 each on 2 lobster buffets in Reno. Never again.

Yes, he will be there. He told me last fall that he would have to join a different league so that he would go to 'Vegas instead of Reno. Apparently he's gambled enough in the past to get his room comp'd in 'Vegas, so that swung it for him. I'll PM you his cell phone number.
