Team Puerto Rico is heading tomorrow and on Thursday to the beautiful Caribbean Island of Aruba. Three (3) events will be held. The 7th Panamerican 9-Ball Championship for Men, the 4th Panamerican Championship for Women, and the 1st Panamerican Team Championship.
Alan Rolon from Puerto Rico and Adriana Villar from Costa Rica, are the defending Champions and have confirmed their participation to the event.
Fifteen countries will be participating at this year's event, with 64 players for the Men's Title and 16 players for the Women's title. Eight (8) temas will be participating for the Panamerican Team Championship.
Our Team is headed by Alan Rolon (reigning Champion), and the following Puerto Rican Players:
Jason Cruz - 2-time ACUI Champion, Edgardo Ramirez - Past Puerto Rico National Champion, Juan Rodriguez - also a Past National Champion. Remainig players are: Wilberto Ortiz, Enrique Montalvo, Javier Perez - upcoming contenders and past Regional Champions.
Needless to say, the "Leader of the Puerto Rican Contingent" will be there with 15 other delegates to attend some important matters within the Panamerican Confederation.
The Pan-American Championships is the most important and prestigious 9-Ball event in this area that groups fifteen (15) Caribbean, Central and South American Countries. This event is sanctioned by the World Pool Association. The event also qualifies eight (8) male players to represent their countries during the upcoming World Pool Championships - Taipei, Taiwan in July 2005.
Two (2) female players will be selected to represent their countries at the Women's World Pool Championship to be held at Klangenfurt, Austria in September 2005.
I've been working hard these past few weeks to get our Team and all the paperwork ready for the Championships. I'll have some info ready after June 1st, so stay tuned.
