It seems common to... Attempt a draw shot, but sometimes wind up with a scoop shot instead (jump ball).
What exactly is the difference in shooting a scoop shot vs a draw shot?
What would you do to *try* to make a scoop shot?
(Scoop shots are against the rules BTW.)

The actual difference is whether your tip makes contact with the cue ball or the table first. The difference in results is pretty obvious.

If you want to actually see, in super slow motion, the differences amoung various draw and scoop shots, with and without miscues, see HSV A.1 and HSVs A.35 through A.45 (http://www.engr.colostate.edu/~dga/pool/high_speed_videos/index.html).
