Up/Down Motion of Cue during Draw Shot?

Hello, I am still a pool beginner and am always working on my shots including the draw shot.

I am noticing that I can get better results by using a slight pendulum motion through the cue ball, so that coming back the cue drops, and during the forward motion, the tip strikes not only forward but also downward.

I tend to get much better draw doing this than a normal straight in/out stroke, even when hitting it extremely low.

Is this advisable to do? Any downsides, or is this normal?

That works. You are "fanning" the cueball and with a relaxed wrist and no elbow drop, you will draw the ball like a yoyo.
I tried making a spot shot without hitting the end rail.
It's much easier done the way you described it.
