A "wired shot" is one where two or more balls are frozen in such a way that one of the balls is aiming right toward a pocket.
I was reading old croquet rules (billiards supposedly originated from croquet) and noticed that they had a term called "wired". This was when a croquet ball would come to rest against a "wire hoop", then shooting the ball thereafter would be affected by this.
I was wondering if the term "wired" did in fact come from croquet?
