View Full Version : DVD to computer

I recorded a snippet off of the television to the VCR. I then transferred the VCR to DVD. The snippet is about one minute, 10 seconds.
I want to put the snippet on a web site for people to download for viewing.
The DVD format seems to be in at least three separate files on the DVD.
Does anyone know anything about making a DVD into a computer-friendly format? Or, can anyone suggest the search terms to use in google to get help? I'm not having any luck...

Okay, I looked into the suggestions, and it looks like those products are designed to put things from computer to DVDs or to copy DVDs to other DVDs.
But, now that I've looked into it, I think I've clarified what I'm needing: I need something that will convert a .VOB file to a .WMV or .AVI.
Unless you think that most people can play a .VOB file on their computer... /ccboard/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I want to put a link to a video on a web page that most folks will be able to download and view. It would actually be nicer to put a viewer on the page, but that's even more beyond what I know and I was hoping to get this done today... well, yesterday... /ccboard/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Anyway, most computers have Windows Media Player, so I thought WMV would be a good format.
You can do VOB to AVI etc with this.

Sir,you are making a scene. I want to know the same thing S.Petty does, and I'm more ignorant than she is. So come on, make this a no brainer for me,before,I leave a carbon track on my monitor.

Sorry for making a scene... you are well aware of my "bad attitude" that I have brought to this board for years /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Anywho, THIS (http://www.xilisoft.com/dvd-to-wmv-converter.html) happens to have a free trial to it. Also there are many things on download.com to look at and try. Really it's a matter of trying and fooling with different things to get around the copy protection on DVD's. A nice friendly war we pirates (arrrr!) have been waging since the days of CD's... but perhaps I'm telling on my own old age there /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif
