View Full Version : Gully Return vs pockets

I am buying a Brunswick table and the dealer said that I should not go with a Gully Return and when asked why she said because it is something that can fail to work smoothly.
Is this true? Are pockets better or worse than a Gully return? and why ?

Gully returns are okay if set up well. I've seen many that need fine tuning and an occasional aftermarket modification to get them right. Spread a towel in the drop box and your balls will stay cleaner and last longer. I like drop pockets because I think it's less abuse on the balls, which can be very expensive, and I don't mind taking a lap around the table. Whichever you decide, I absolutely without a doubt would never ever no way in Hell not gonna happen ain't gonna do it and you can't make me get pocket liners that nail into the pocket! The nails will destroy (read: $$$) ball sets by taking chunks out the ball as it is shot into the pocket. Get leatherbacks or even countersunk screw model pocket liners. It's worth every penny over the life of the table (which should be longer than anyone reading this).

Have fun with it, and good luck!
