I got Paid!!

I just got home from Florida and in my mail was a check from,

Martin Bienstock, City Marshal for $2933.02!!!

He didnt even seem to take much out for himself if any!!

I cant believe im finally getting paid for the smash job Avistar did on my car. Im going to the bank tonite.

Now if you can believe this. On the way to Florida 10 days ago, maybe 2 miles form the airport-in Queens-stopped dead in traffic- a guy rear ends me-dents/scraps my trunk and bumper.

Ive got an hour to catch the plane and im on the Van Wyck in the middle of who knows where. All i can do is get his info and drive to the parking lot and get on the plane. The guy tells me he will take care of everything so i overnite the key to a taxi guy and pay him $200 to get the car and deliver it to a body shop where i get an estimate for $1480.

Of course now the guy wants 2 more estimates and im in florida and would like to come back to a fixed car! Anyway this idiot is willing to pay WHAT HE THINKS the bill should be based on him "talking to 2 mechanics". He thinks he should pay $800- I am out close to $2k with rent-a-car, paying the taxi guy etc. Not sure what im gonna do here but id rather kill myself than take $800.

Yech!! I've driven in Manhatten!! The 2 hour delay to the tunnel is enough to make you go mad!! And I was only 3 blocks away!! Can you say helicopters???

Thanks- I had really written it off despite my continuing 'wins' in court so the check is really a surprise and i can totally pay the new bill with it and have a little left over.

It came at a great time- I think i am definitely the brokest i have been now since the original incident. Of course that is because i just bought a new HDTV, A laptop and a Southwest so don't feel too sorry for me.

The SW is beautiful but im planning on selling it in Taiwan for a nice profit when i watch Ga Young defend her World title in early March. They are supposed to be wild about SW's there and dont mind paying up for them. If not ill still have a great cue for myself.

PS- Yes i will definitely have to consider alternate means to reach the Airport.

Here's a story for you Dave.

Back in 1996 I picked up Jennifer Chen at Dawn Hopkins' house on the way to the BCA 9-ball Nats at the Tropicana. On the way into the playing area we passed by a dealer that had 3 SWs for sale. They immediately caught Jennifer's eye and she negotiated a price for them on the condition that if she won the event she would buy them. Of course, she nailed Cindy Doty in the finals and pocketed $4000 for the event. That night she also won $10K at Pai Gow.

Not only did Jennifer buy the SWs but she made a tidy profit reselling them when she went back home.

She has quite the nose for the cash i guess-Supposed to have made more than Jeanette but with her love of the Casinos, Im betting Jeanette has more in the bank.

Didnt know Taiwan was GaGa over SW's for such a long time- I just heard that 3 TW players played in the Mizerak Senior event and they all had Sw's too. Ga Young plays with one and so does CS Yang among other TW based players.
