The Queen of the Hill

or Nick Varner?

Kentucky Colonel
Cool Hand Nick

Larry Liscotti "The Prince of pool".

Larry Lisciotti was called this because of a Sports Illustrated (or similar) article that dubbed him "The Prince of Pool" after winning the World 14.1 title. He was, however, known as "Oil Can" Larry Lisciotti.

Jose Parica "Le Mon" means "The Man".

It's José "Amang" Parica. Amang is tagalog for "The Man."

Efren Reyes is affectionately known as "Bata," which is a colloquialism that means "The Kid."

Steve, I'm sure you have both of these on your list.
Richard "Bucktooth" Cook. He's not only mentioned in the one-pocket book...what other player has made "60 minutes"?
That was about a robbery/kidnapping , by a former employee, at his jewelry store."Tooey" not only plays good, his mouth is probably worth a ball...never stops talking.
The other guy is Warren "Monk " Costanza....who beat Mike Sigal in a tournament in LV, when Mike was on top of his game....the prize was around $30k.....big bucks then.
The story is that on the deciding gamae Mike hooks himself on the side pucket facing, makes a great kick on the 9, leaving it on one end rail, the cue ball on the other, and Monk, slices it in.....and falls to the floor...
I was in Reno to watch a tournament, and went over to Keystone Billiards to play a little. There was a player there, from the bay area that was not too well liked, and he was winning some $$ off another young guy. Just as I got ready to leave Monk came over, and said to him "hey kid, you want to play a little one pocket" As I left, I whispered to him...."hey,K you're going to kill this old guy, he don't even look like he can play" I could see in K's eyes, he was already counting the cash.....and by the time I got outside, I was laughing so hard, my eyes were watering.

I had the pleasure of playing against him now and then and watching him play alot in area tourneys. He was living in northwest Ohio until he passed away. Lima, Ohio I beleive. I am in Ft.Wayne, Indiana, about 60 miles from where Steve Cook lived.
