This was a big deal a year or so ago, I think it was in California at the time. This is stupid. The Tax on Gasoline is a good system, it taxes by pollution and weight/rode wear and encourages the use of higher gas mileage vehicles and alternate fuels. To try to tax by the mile with RFID is not only big brother but counter productive by encouraging these huge trucks and hummers and discouraging conservation.
This is surprising that it involves Oregon and Washington which are usually more environmentally conscious. Anything this stupid has to be coming from Bush. It would be a good fit to compliment his use-more-oil-drill-ANWR-give-billions-to-oil-companies "Energy Plan"
