he was convicted. The issue is death or life without parole. it is important to note he was in custody at teh time of the 9/11 attack. Also, whatever we might think of him, the government was trying a case with some novel legal issues that weren't clear cut; IOW it wasn't clear he could even get the death penalty as opposed to life based on the specific charges. Then the government lawyers made a couple of major, major errors. So yeah, a terrorist will sit in a supermax pen forever instead of appealing for 10 years then maybe getting the needle. It isn't all that simple and in the end it won't make a whole lot of difference. I have only read a few articles on this case, but it si more complicated than it appears and isn't something to get realy worked up over. WWe have made many bigger mistakes the last 4 years.
