View Full Version : Dillard Allen

Just received a sad call from our league director, saying that Dillard Allen had passed after a two-year battle with cancer.

Don't know how many of you knew him, but he was a fine player and always a gentleman. Back in the '90s, I believe teams on which he played claimed first place several times in the "Masters" category at the BCA Nationals (see "Crunch Bunch").

He was playing on my 5-man team in Dallas when he was first diagnosed, and we all hoped he would beat the odds.

Dillard was a great player and was always a pleasure to play against.

One thing people may not have known about him was that he was an excellent snooker player and a very good 3-cushion billard player.

I saw him playing 3-cushion at CJ's in the mid-1990's and he was very impressive.

Even though I can't say I knew him all that well, I am sad that he is gone.

I knew this was near but still it is sudden and sad, Dillard was always quick with a smile, genuine in nature to him as all who knew him will most likely agree. I feel fortunate to have bumped into him at my PH over the last few weeks to say "hello." Thanks for letting me know Spiderman...sid
