Iran Requests Direct Talks on Nuclear Program

By Karl Vick and Dafna Linzer
Washington Post Foreign Service
Wednesday, May 24, 2006; Page A01

TEHRAN, May 23 -- Iran has followed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent letter to President Bush with explicit requests for direct talks on its nuclear program, according to U.S. officials, Iranian analysts and foreign diplomats.

The eagerness for talks demonstrates a profound change in Iran's political orthodoxy, emphatically erasing a taboo against contact with Washington that has both defined and confined Tehran's public foreign policy for more than a quarter-century, they said.

If Bush wants peace he should talk, right?

Q.....my prediction- NO CHANCE.
Bush wants WAR........and he needs the illegals to join the Army for a fast ticket to citizenship- or the grave! A Draft is unacceptable for the rich!
Introduce the draft- no exceptions- and Bush's war will be over in 2 days.

Good theory but during the Vietnam era the rich
got their kids out of the draft. As Steve Earle
said in "Copperhead Road" "round here they draft
the poor white trash first". A draft just means
that my 2 sons will end up getting their ass shot
off in Iraq. the way they're screwing up now they'll
never get in college.

LOL, what a crock. No matter what choices are made and who makes them, you will chastise W. Only a fool, someone with no desire to actually accept the truth, would believe Iran has the same intentions of "talking" as Q would lead one to believe. Wake up Q. If the US listened to your crap we would be sitting around for another 12 years of sanctions because Iraq is having another one of those "changes of heart". /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Eg8r I thought you had left us.

Of course the two Idiots in the White House and Blair House are prime examples of F-----g the system during the Viet Nam experience. 59,000 dead and these two Boobs are walking around like experienced Woodsman.

I am for drafting only republicans when the Dems take over in 06 I will be lobbying for that bill. OH Damit there will be no enrolled Republicans between the ages of 20 and 60 in the 2008 elections. I can see it now Geb Bush wins the Florida Primary 100 to 88.

This is for you Gayle. I hope you have 911 on your speed dial.####

Hey Dick, how bout Cheney, the thrust behind the illegal occupation of Iraq, sending our people overthere to continue to fight a militarily unwinnable war, after taking six deferrments to avoid Veitnam!

Everytime Bush gets up there next to Blair, as in last nights press conference, it is painfully obvious how dumb he is....he's still just a cheerleader! Only now, the cheer is "IMPEACH BUSH" You could hear the people protesting on the street in front of the White House after the Press Conference, when the reporter from CNN was reporting from the White House. Bush won't admit what a fix he has this country in, only that leaving Iraq, would be disasterous, that makes two disasters that could have been avoided if he had been focussed on bin Laden, instead of Iraq, this war, and 9/11. BUT....our illustrious leader can't think of any mistakes, except for semantics! Atleast Blair was man enough to admit that their war plan w2as way off!

The only truth that we hear comes from reporters, who are all out of Iraq now due to the CIVIL WAR, and John Murtha, the only man on the hill who tells it like it is!

BTW, By GW's own words- did you HEAR him in his news conference with Blair- they found NO WMDs in Iraq - got it? /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

GW didnt talk to the Taliban before invading Afgahnistan, nor with Saddam in Iraq, they dont talk to terrorists and they have no intention with talking with Iran or anybody else who stands in the way of the Grand Plan.

They do talk to lobbyists like Abrahmoff tho. /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I see his point though, if we had no draft in the 60's/70's the Vietnam protest movement would have never occured.

However, I agree with you, it would just mean that a lot of non-volunteers would get their butts shot off. And the Air Force and Navy would be able to be very picky about who they accepted.

eg8r: Glad to see you back, and demonstrating your deminished capacity to grasp the obvious. It was getting pretty boring without your convoluted interpretations of other peoples posts. Hey the Japanese have invented a clone of you, that actually reacts to signals from peoples brains.I hope you were not sick,or down with any health problems. How about that Bush...what a great domestic agenda, you Democrats must be proud of the out flow of jobs, and the in flow of aliens. And how about China and the aircraft carrier they bought for a floating casino? I think its a something the Pentagon should look into. Anyway glad to see you back, old buddy /ccboard/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Bush is an incompetent fool, deserves impeachment, and should spend the rest of his life in prison for his transgressions against the American People and the Constitution but I can't fault him for not talking to Iran (or North Korea). Their leaders will never agree to anything that doesn't give them more time to develop nukes.

Besides that, tyrants and religious fanatics don't get along very well together so what could they possibly talk about /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif
