View Full Version : Early U.S. Open winners
Before the U.S. Open that we all know and love started 27 years ago, where did it used to be held and who were the notable winners. I remember reading Ronnie Allen won it in '69 but thats all i know. Anyone out there have any ideas?
A player by the name of Tom Jennings from NJ won an early US Open and possibly another guy by the name of Mark Beilfuss from Grand Rapids, Michigan, however, the game played at these opens was str8 pool not 9ball. Stedyfred

They should put an asterisk on Lebron's name. I believe that was the last year Vegas put up a betting line on US Open.

I have made a note on my home list. The info posted was obtained from various sources including Accustat tapes among others. I am not certain now about that year's runner-up. Maybe Brady could give the info out.
Thanks anyway for your reply.
I played in the 1967 US.Open at Lansing Mich, Jimmy Caras won that year at 58 years of age. I think he lost his first game and won 11 straight games to win the title. The tourney was riddled with lousy reffing.####
